사진 해상도 확인 How to check photo resolution, let’s see DPI!

If you’ve ever purchased any of these three TVs, monitors, and mobile phones, you’ve probably heard the description of the resolution from the seller.

Resolution is very important in a display, and as I mentioned in a post about monitor refresh rate a while ago, when looking at a display, I said that resolution, refresh rate and response speed are important. 사진 해상도 확인

If it was the refresh rate last time, today I’m going to explain the resolution in an easy to understand way and tell you how to adjust the #monitor resolution.

(Many people are curious about how to set the #dual monitor resolution, so that part too ^ ^)

What is resolution? 윤과장의 소소한 일상 이야기

To put it simply, an image is output with countless dots on the display screen and an image is output.

These dots are called pixels in other words, and the number of pixels is called resolution.

The higher the number of pixels, the more sophisticated and detailed images or videos can be expressed.

For example, when two children with similar skills were asked to tear colored paper to express flowers, if you predict which flower would be better expressed in 10 pieces or 100 pieces, it is probably a flower made of 100 pieces.

As above, the more the number of pixels, the more detailed the display is possible than a monitor with fewer pixels.

<Generally standardized representative resolution>

HD: 1280 X 720

FHD: 1920 X 1080

QHD: 2560 X 1440

UHD: 3840 X 2160

In the case of FHD, QHD, and UHD, as we commonly know, the number of horizontal pixels X the number of vertical pixels.

Speaking of Full HD (FHD), it is made up of 1920 x 1080 pixels, so 1920 X 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels.

* In fact, 4K has a higher resolution than UHD to be precise.

But these days, it’s UHD, but there are products that just call it 4K, but in fact, 4K has 4096X2160 horizontal pixels.

If you only know about the resolution, you will understand which display you buy.

Now, I will tell you how to adjust the monitor resolution.

Try adjusting the monitor resolution

Please read the post as it was conducted with Windows 10 version.

We right-click on the desktop and go to “Display Settings” at the bottom.

A window will pop up where you can set various system settings. If you swipe down from the display, click “Display resolution”.

Currently my #monitor resolution is set to 1920X1080

If you click on the list, you will see several display resolutions that can be changed.

After selecting the desired #monitor resolution, when the change confirmation message window appears, click the OK button to apply the monitor with the changed resolution.

In fact, it is best to set the resolution to the recommended resolution because it is not always better to increase the resolution.

I’ll change it to 1600 X 1024 to show the difference in resolution.

monitor resolution difference

Actually, the one on the left is the 1920 X 1080 resolution I used before, and the one on the right is the 1600 X 1024 resolution.

To let you know that there is no manipulation, I took a photo comparison with my cell phone and a screenshot of my PC.

Left: 1920 X 1080 resolution / Right: 1600 X 1024 resolution

Do you feel the difference?

For reference, my monitor is 27 inches and I can see the blog post title on the left, but not the title on the right.

On the right, you have to scroll down to see the title.

Not only that, the pink post-it notes and the part where the keyboard is displayed are different.

You can see that the amount of content on the screen is different.

However, it is not always good to set the resolution of the monitor all high, and I think FHD is suitable for me since I am 27 inches.

I know that QHD is the recommended resolution in the case of 32-inch monitors as monitors come out big these days.

Above that, UHD resolution is recommended.

Dual monitor resolution settings

Now let’s set up the dual monitor resolution.

Nowadays, there are many people who work with dual monitors by connecting a laptop and a monitor.

However, since the optimal resolution of the laptop and the optimal resolution of the monitor are different, it is recommended to use it after setting the dual monitor resolution.

Actually, it’s not that difficult to set the dual monitor resolution.

If only dual monitors are set, you can proceed in the same way in the window where you set the display resolution, but the difference is that it is dual, so two displays are captured.

You can set the resolution for each display in steps 1 and 2.

After selecting monitor 1, set the resolution, select monitor 2 again and set the resolution, and you are done.

Simple, right?

So far, I’ve said that I’m explaining the monitor resolution and how to set the resolution in an easy way, but I don’t know if it was helpful.

I hope this will be helpful to those who read this, and I will leave it alone.

Hope to see you again in the next post!

Oh! Also, if the dual monitor connection is not working well, it would be good to refer to the post below.
